Weekly Homework 16th of April

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

Here is the homework for the week:

1. Reading - The Wrong Car Pages 7-12, please use the little booklet to ask questions about these pages and develop their comprehension skills. Please make sure the book is in their bag everyday as we will be using them in class too.

2. Writing Copy - Each week the children will write 3 sentences in their copy about the topic for that week. This week the topic is flowers. Please write a title, the date and 3 sentences this week. We are working on ensuring we have capital letters, full stops, spaces and writing on the line.

3. Maths worksheet - Each week the children will get a maths worksheet to practice their mental maths and addition skills. The back of the sheet is optional .

4. Tricky words - We have completed the list of tricky words for our level and so we just need to practice, practice, practice using them this term. You will find a board game in the folder too to practice these.

Homework will be collected on Friday morning so please ensure the folders are in their bags for collection on Friday.

Any issues or problems with the homework, as always, please let me know and we can adapt and change as necessary.

Welcome back!

Hi Everyone, welcome back to Term 3, I hope you had a lovely break! I was away with the 6th class children for the last three days in Coláiste Uisce and I was told that my class have already been working hard and are  ready for a busy few weeks before we finish for the summer :) Here are some important dates to note for the coming weeks.  Next week - Monday 1st & 2nd Of May the school is closed May 8th the school is closed May 9th is our school tour June 2nd & 5th school is closed June 16th Class Assembly     The homework has changed slightly in that the phonics and sound out words are being replaced by reading from our Wandsville, class readers.  We hope to cover the three readers this term, so that means reading practice every night. It is only one page per night, lots of repetition and learning with the visual help of the pictures so no need to worry.  You will have seen on the note that went home...

Weekly homework 19th of February

Hi Everyone,  I hope you all had a lovely mid term break! We had a student teacher, Conor, start with us today and he will be teaching the class for four weeks. The children are all very excited! Feel free to come to me if you have any questions etc as I will still be in the classroom during this period.  Here is the homework for the week:  1. Tricky Words Revision of the tricky words (3 from the old list and 3 from the new list) ' the ', ' all ', ' no ', ' old ', ' many ' and ' should '.  2: Reading The children have been given new readers in their folders.  Once your child gets a new book, please fill in the date they received the book and sign the sheet if you feel your child has completed the book to the best of their ability.  When completing this at home, please focus on fluency, pacing, good expression and a good understanding of the book they are reading.  As always, if you have any questions about this please ...

'a, a, ants on my arm!'

Today we learned all about the sound... Our rhyme for this sound goes like this - 'Curve around, up like a helicopter, bump, back down and kick.' We made sure to check our classroom for things beginning with the 'a' sound so you could have a look around and see if you can spot anything beginning with 'a' outside school! Here is the song for this sound. We have also been practicing our tricky word, 'the', and trying to find it hiding in different places around the classroom!
