Weekly homework 6/11/2017

Welcome back and I hope you all had a lovely mid-term break.

Here is the homework for this week.

1. Tricky Words: like, have, only, old, little - Please practice all of these words during the week.

2. Ella Goes to the Airport: Read Pages 17 - 20 in the book.

3. Sound Booklet: Our sound this week is 'ie'. Please complete Page 7 in the booklet.

4. Handwriting Copy: Page 7 this week.
Please recite the formation rhymes as the children write the letters.

Please do not go ahead in the written homework.

You can decide how much or little you do on each evening but I would suggest to practice their reading every night.

Movie Night is on Thursday, cost is €3.

Our theme this fortnight is transport and vehicles. We will be looking at the bus in particular.

Take a look at Baz and his mammy checking out how good Dublin Bus is below.

These poor animals have no way to travel around, all these types of transport are not suitable for them. They come up with a clever plan to get around.

'a, a, ants on my arm!'

Today we learned all about the sound... Our rhyme for this sound goes like this - 'Curve around, up like a helicopter, bump, back down and kick.' We made sure to check our classroom for things beginning with the 'a' sound so you could have a look around and see if you can spot anything beginning with 'a' outside school! Here is the song for this sound. We have also been practicing our tricky word, 'the', and trying to find it hiding in different places around the classroom!

Christmas Play Music

Christmas Play Music Hi everyone,  Here are the songs we need to learn for our Christmas show.  We need costumes for elves, mice, cat, dog, fairy, doll, teddy, superhero, Santa and Mrs Santa.  We can do a lot with face paint and coloured clothes but if anyone has anything that might suit these characters, please let us know! Twas the Night Before Christmas Poem  ‘Twas the night before Christmas And all through the house Not a creature was stirring Not even a mouse. The stockings were hung By the chimney with care In the hopes that St Nicholas Soon would be there. But the family were sick They were struck down with flu And Christmas was cancelled What else could they do? But Mrs Saint Nick had other ideas And quickly she gathered her team They created Christmas all through the house As though it took place in a dream. So in came St Nicholas Our Santa by name And Christmas was ready So that's why he came....

A huge thank you and happy summer!

Hey everyone,  I just want to say thank you so much for such a wonderful two years. The children are a credit to all the parents and each child should be very proud of themselves because they have come so far since starting in Junior Infants two years ago.  They are all so unique and full of personality and have given me so much happiness and laughs every day. I'll miss them hugely but I know they will love the new challenges and exciting changes in First Class.  Always feel free to pop into me whenever you're passing and good luck in the future! Jessica ☺
