Some important information!

Hello everyone,

Just a few reminders and notices for you all.

On Monday morning the Junior Infants will start lining up at the numbers '1' or '2' in the basketball court. We will come out and collect the class when the bell goes at 8.30. We would ask the parents not to come in with the children from Monday onwards as there are a lot of children and teachers making their way to their own classrooms. This will also help to establish a classroom routine and get the children used to coming in without their parents.

The children will also be starting a longer day from Monday, so they will finish at 1.20 each afternoon.

Some parents received Glanmore food menus to avail of the school lunches for the children. If you could please complete these and return them by Wednesday, that would be great! If you didn't get a form today, let us know and we will give one to you on Monday.

Lastly, could you please give your child a baby photo of themselves to bring into school as we are going to talk about them together.

The children are settling in very well and we really appreciate your patience at collection time.

'a, a, ants on my arm!'

Today we learned all about the sound... Our rhyme for this sound goes like this - 'Curve around, up like a helicopter, bump, back down and kick.' We made sure to check our classroom for things beginning with the 'a' sound so you could have a look around and see if you can spot anything beginning with 'a' outside school! Here is the song for this sound. We have also been practicing our tricky word, 'the', and trying to find it hiding in different places around the classroom!

Weekly homework 19th of February

Hi Everyone,  I hope you all had a lovely mid term break! We had a student teacher, Conor, start with us today and he will be teaching the class for four weeks. The children are all very excited! Feel free to come to me if you have any questions etc as I will still be in the classroom during this period.  Here is the homework for the week:  1. Tricky Words Revision of the tricky words (3 from the old list and 3 from the new list) ' the ', ' all ', ' no ', ' old ', ' many ' and ' should '.  2: Reading The children have been given new readers in their folders.  Once your child gets a new book, please fill in the date they received the book and sign the sheet if you feel your child has completed the book to the best of their ability.  When completing this at home, please focus on fluency, pacing, good expression and a good understanding of the book they are reading.  As always, if you have any questions about this please ...

A huge thank you and happy summer!

Hey everyone,  I just want to say thank you so much for such a wonderful two years. The children are a credit to all the parents and each child should be very proud of themselves because they have come so far since starting in Junior Infants two years ago.  They are all so unique and full of personality and have given me so much happiness and laughs every day. I'll miss them hugely but I know they will love the new challenges and exciting changes in First Class.  Always feel free to pop into me whenever you're passing and good luck in the future! Jessica ☺
