Visitors from France and French Dress Up Day

We were very lucky today to have two visitors in our class today, who are both from France and live here in Ireland now! Ilian's parents came into us this morning to tell us all about France. The children had a lot to tell them about their own country but we learned even more about the different theme parks in France, some French history, listened and danced to a beautiful French song and we also found out that the tallest bridge in France is actually tallest bridge in Europe!

They were even kind enough bring in some French treats for us to taste and the children were all asking for seconds!

Thank you both so much for coming into our class, it was wonderful!

Also, well done to the whole class for dressing up as something linked to France. I was so impressed by everyone, from French flags to French mime artists and we even had a French Poodle in class - c'était super!

'a, a, ants on my arm!'

Today we learned all about the sound... Our rhyme for this sound goes like this - 'Curve around, up like a helicopter, bump, back down and kick.' We made sure to check our classroom for things beginning with the 'a' sound so you could have a look around and see if you can spot anything beginning with 'a' outside school! Here is the song for this sound. We have also been practicing our tricky word, 'the', and trying to find it hiding in different places around the classroom!

Christmas Play Music

Christmas Play Music Hi everyone,  Here are the songs we need to learn for our Christmas show.  We need costumes for elves, mice, cat, dog, fairy, doll, teddy, superhero, Santa and Mrs Santa.  We can do a lot with face paint and coloured clothes but if anyone has anything that might suit these characters, please let us know! Twas the Night Before Christmas Poem  ‘Twas the night before Christmas And all through the house Not a creature was stirring Not even a mouse. The stockings were hung By the chimney with care In the hopes that St Nicholas Soon would be there. But the family were sick They were struck down with flu And Christmas was cancelled What else could they do? But Mrs Saint Nick had other ideas And quickly she gathered her team They created Christmas all through the house As though it took place in a dream. So in came St Nicholas Our Santa by name And Christmas was ready So that's why he came....

A huge thank you and happy summer!

Hey everyone,  I just want to say thank you so much for such a wonderful two years. The children are a credit to all the parents and each child should be very proud of themselves because they have come so far since starting in Junior Infants two years ago.  They are all so unique and full of personality and have given me so much happiness and laughs every day. I'll miss them hugely but I know they will love the new challenges and exciting changes in First Class.  Always feel free to pop into me whenever you're passing and good luck in the future! Jessica ☺
