Beautiful flowers in Junior Infants!

We had a lovely visitor in Junior Infants yesterday, her name was Maria and she was a florist. We have been learning all about the flower shop this week in Aistear. A florist works in Flower Shop and creates beautiful bouquets of flowers for people to buy.
 







 
Maria explained how plants grow and we planted some sunflower seeds to keep in our classroom. Then Maria showed us how to make a pretty bouquet and arrangement of flowers and even gave us some gardening tools and lovely decorations for our Aistear corner.

New sounds and tricky words for December!

Happy December everybody! The children are doing very well with their sounds and blending and we will be going over these during the next couple of weeks. Our first sound this week is 'f'.     The formation rhyme for this sound is;  'Curve at the sky, turn and dive down, bump the line and cross.' The next sound we will be learning is 'b'     The formation rhyme for this sound is;  'Dive down, swim up to the middle, curve around and stop.' We have two tricky words this week so just do your best to learn both of them. Come on in to the Belmayne Restaurant!

The children have been learning about the restaurant in Aistear over the last two weeks, as well as creating wonderful art by the French artist Henri Matisse, exploring magnets and designing and building their own restaurants and French landmarks.  Have a look at all the things they've been getting up to!
