A visit from a Postman!

We were very lucky to have a visit from a postman in Junior Infants today! Bonnie and Blake's dad came in to visit us and tell us all about the work he does in the GPO in Dublin City. He had a postbox and a carrier back for all the post and he even brought us in postcards and pencils for us to write our very own postcards. We really enjoyed having him in and he made learning about the Post Office lots of fun!

The Post Office and our community

Our Aistear theme is changing this week and we will be learning all about the Post Office.     Have a look at this fun website that helps us to learn all about An Post! http://www.anpost.ie/Anpost/Schoolbag/   The children are also learning about the community and the local area as well as the people who help us in our community.   Here are some photographs of places you might recognise around our community in Belmayne.                                                                                      ...

'c' and 'k' sound and our tricky word 'me'.

The first sound this week is the 'c' sound... The rhyme for this sound is 'curve around'. The children have been practicing the semi-circle pattern so the children could practice writing a semi-circle as well as the 'c' sound.   The second sound for the week is 'k'... The rhyme for this sound is quite long but take it step by step and it should help the children form the letter!   It goes like this: Dive down from the sky, swim back up, shoot the arrow, bring it back, shoot it again and kick.   The song for 'c' and 'k' are the same so you can sing them both together to make the 'ck' sound.   Our tricky word this week is   me
